Hi, I’m Paula.
I’m an experienced, compassionate and friendly CBT therapist based in West Lancashire.
I offer a range of professional and competitively priced CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) services for both people seeking talking therapy and mental health professionals and trainee CBT practitioners. My work is grounded in a simple purpose: to support people in making positive, lasting changes in their lives. I bring a deep commitment to the people I work with, and I’m here to offer support that’s practical, thoughtful and tailored to each person’s individual needs.
I offer therapy sessions on a private basis, including through a number of insurance providers such as Axa, Aviva and WPA.
My Experience
I’m an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, fully accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). For me, therapy is more than a profession—it’s a meaningful way to support people through life’s challenges and help them achieve their goals. This commitment lies at the heart of everything I do.
With over 20 years of experience in the field, including 12 years within the NHS, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients. I provide evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing low mood, anxiety, and related difficulties, and I believe in working collaboratively to achieve real, lasting results. I see therapy as a partnership—working together is essential for meaningful change.
In addition to my clinical work, I’m an experienced clinical supervisor. Since 2018, I’ve been supervising both trainee and qualified CBT therapists, offering structured, evidence-based guidance to support their professional growth and development.
I also hold a Senior Lecturer position in Psychology at the University of Chester, where I teach on the Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am a Fellow of Advance HE, and in my academic role, I supervise students in their clinical placements, assess clinical competence, and provide feedback to support their progress. I’m also responsible for developing and maintaining the e-portfolio system used to track clinical learning, and I lecture across several core modules.

What is CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy underpinned by the theory that our thoughts, how we feel and what we do are all interconnected, and that if we work on one of these areas, we can break out of unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
Why do I practice it
CBT is proven to be effective in helping people overcome a variety of different problems, and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
